"As a meat man, I am against the waste of animal proteins. We add value and improve the image of the Netherlands as a pig country."

Frank Campmans

Our goal

They swear by piglet meat in various places around the world. The tender meat literally melts in the mouth. At Pigarné, we know our business, we produce high-quality piglet meat in accordance with strict guidelines and are recognised by our buyers worldwide.

The Netherlands is internationally renowned for the quality piglets it supplies. There is a high concentration of piglets in a relatively small area. Quality herds are exported, but there are also slaughter-worthy piglets that are not suitable for fattening. And that is precisely where Pigarné provides added value!

As specialists in piglet meat processing, we have a mission: running our business consciously, responsibly, transparently and honestly, in other words: Good-quality, ethical piglet meat.

No waste: Pigarné is against wasting animal proteins. For example, we adjust the speed of the slaughter line so that our professionals can slaughter and process each animal correctly.

Less CO2: The aim, therefore, is to slaughter slaughter-worthy piglets that are not suitable for fattening in the Netherlands and then sell them optimally (internationally) as carcasses or in parts. Regional processing, smaller carbon footprint.

Animal welfare: \Pigarné will make every effort to make the whole process from livestock farmer to slaughter as ethical as possible, including the shortest and fastest possible transport to our slaughterhouse.

History

Animals have been slaughtered at this location in Lichtenvoorde since 1982. Current co-owner Frank Campmans has been slaughtering his piglets in Lichtenvoorde since 2008.

In 2020, Frank became director of Agri4+ Vleesproductie (Agri4+ Meat Production). The slaughterhouse developed from small to medium-sized slaughterhouse, specialising in selling suckling piglets.

It entered into a partnership with VAEX The Livestock Traders in May 2022, to enable it to take the next step. This secures Pigarné's domestic supply of slaughter animals and increases Pigarné's opportunities for international sales. Forces joined, ready for the future!

"Our mission is crystal clear: To process all Dutch piglets, which are not suitable for fattening , into high-quality food in the Netherlands, thus reducing the carbon footprint, while also being more animal-friendly and responsible”.

Dirk Govers

Slaughterhouse & Processing

We keep the lines from the farmer to the slaughterhouse as short as possible. We buy our piglets ourselves and ensure the quickest and shortest possible transport to our slaughterhouse. Despite the fact that the animal is processed for consumption, animal welfare is our top priority.

Pigarné will make every effort to make the whole process from livestock farmer to slaughter as ethical as possible, including the shortest and fastest possible transport to our slaughterhouse. This contributes to the high quality of our piglet meat. Slaughtering is carried out by a highly-skilled and driven team in our own modern slaughterhouse.

We then cut the piglet meat into the desired technical parts and quantities, and pack it exactly as the customer wants it.

We also provide contract slaughtering, home slaughtering and emergency slaughtering for cattle. In this case too, the customer decides and we do the rest.

Export

The majority of the Pigarné piglet meat is exported, from complete carcasses to parts and processed pork products. Finding the sales markets that pay for certain qualities is our business.

Southern Europe and Asia are key destinations for Pigarné's piglet meat. From full freezer containers to single pallets. Piglet meat is considered a speciality in those regions. In the meantime, Pigarné is also trying to introduce the Dutch meat eater to the tender piglet meat.

Certification

Quality and safety are an important part of our business. Food safety, animal welfare, hygiene and the safety of our employees are our main concerns. This is how we are continuously improving reliability and quality.

Slaughtering and processing take place in accordance with strict European regulations. We work with assurance systems and procedures to ensure the continued quality of our products.

Continuous checks are carried out by independent bodies. Our quality systems are transparent and traceable, and we have several independent certification standards.
